Smallbore Pistol Metallic Silhouette Match
Terrell Rifle And Pistol Club
November 18th, 2006 |
 |
We are proud to announce our SECOND pistol silhouette match.
Match Fee is $3.00
The shooting starts promptly at 9:00 AM. Please come early to help set up. Lunch will be provided to all.
Any pistol is fine as long as it shoots .22 short, long, or long rifle. Bring several magazines or speed loaders as the first match is rapid fire. Only "high velocity" and slower ammunition is allowed… really hot ammo like "stingers" (faster than 1300 fps or so) is not allowed because of splatter and target damage. No .17 or .22 magnum allowed.
We'll be shooting smallbore rifle targets at the following distances: chickens at 16 yards, pigs at 20 yards, turkeys at 30 yards, and sheep at 40 yards. Bring something to carry your equipment in - the targets will stay at the berm and the firing line will move.
We will shoot a traditional NRA slow fire match following the rapid fire match if time allows.
You will need:
- A pistol- nothing fancy is required, any sights, scopes, red-dots, etc.
- Open bolt indicator - if you don't have one we'll loan you one
- a box, case, or pistol rug to carry your pistol in - holstered carry is not permitted on the silhouette range
- Something to carry your equipment in when moving the firing line
- Plenty of ammo - at least 100 rounds; we hope to shoot at least two matches
Practice targets are available at the rifle/pistol building and here: targets.pdf. There will be little or no time to practice or shoot sighting shots on match day, so practice and sight in before match day if you can!
The distances are already marked on the 50-yard range. Look for bright orange markers driven flush with the ground along the sides of the range. The targets will be at the normal position in front of the berm.
